Want to soothe dry, itchy skin? Winter can further exacerbate symptoms of dry skin. Read on for information on a simple recipe to soothe and repair dry skin.

Our handmade Shea Butter is a natural cream that soothes dry skin. If your skin is anything like mine you might find that most store bought butters and moisturisers do not soothe your dry skin. Most of these products contain harsh chemicals that coat our skin but do not moisturise it deeply. In order to properly soften and moisturise dry skin you need to use a heavier butter that doesn’t just coat the skin but can actually be absorbed by the skin to allow for moisture to penetrate the skin properly.

Most people  find it difficult to find natural handmade skin care products in Australia that is made to suit the needs of people with sensitive or dry skin. .

I decided to share with you a simple recipe to make a thick creamy butter that can help alleviate dry skin. You can also use this butter on hair to add moisture and help in nourishment of the hair.

In making this body butter, we combine  raw unrefined Shea Butter, coconut oil, olive oil and castor oil. This all-natural recipe is exactly what most dry skin craves. It can be greasy on initial application but the skin absorbs it quickly so it does not sit on your skin for long. Because this is a heavier butter, a little goes a long way. It can help in soothing eczema as well.

I used rosemary and lime essential oil to add scent to this butter mix. Feel free to explore with essential oils for different scents.

Check out a video on how to make this moisturising hair and butter mix here. I have this available for sale here.
