African Black Soap is an all natural soap made from plantain peels, cocoa pod ash and natural oils like coconut oil and Shea butter. The market women who make black soap dry the plantain peels in the  sun-dried and then roast it. They then filter the end product through water to obtain the alkaline base. It is this alkaline base that traces with the natural oils to form black soap. There is no lye in African Black Soap. Lye is Sodium hydroxide. Generally Lye is what mixes with oils to make regular soap.   The alkaline base obtained from roasted plantain peel replaces lye in regular soap.

We source our African black soap  from Ghana (West Africa). In Ghana, they call it ‘Alata Semina’. It’s freshly handmade by the local women in Kumasi which is located in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. The local market women package the African Black Soap and then ship it directly to Australia where it’s sold. African Black Soap is organic and pure and may help to heal a lot of skin ailments. E.g. pimples, eczema, etc. It can also help to soothe dry skin as it cleanses the skin without stripping it of its natural oils. Try our black soap for healthy supple skin.
We use an essential oil citrus blend to add scent to this product.
